We fabricated a custom steel-framed glazing system for Islander UK's Covent Garden flagship, separating the retail floor from a live bag-making workshop. Finished in a bespoke olive green with matching pull handles, the project was delivered in six weeks to meet the store's grand opening.

Islander UK's new Covent Garden home is built around experience. Customers don't just browse, they handcraft their own bespoke bags, watching the process unfold in a workshop just steps from the shop floor. We were commissioned to fabricate the steel-framed glazing system that divides the two spaces while keeping them visually connected.

The brief came with a tight six-week deadline to coincide with the store's grand opening. Because Islander UK arrived with a fully realised design intent, we moved straight into technical fabrication, bypassing the design development phase entirely.

Rather than the industrial black finish steel glazing is usually associated with, we custom-finished the frames in an earthy olive green, chosen to sit naturally alongside the shop's warm interior, from the wooden workshop tables to the glazed ceramic wall tiles. Matching green rectangular block pull handles were fabricated to carry the same tone through every touchpoint, giving customers a tactile, considered experience each time they pass through.

Generous glass panes were engineered to maximise natural light and sightlines, so shoppers on the retail floor can see straight into the workshop and watch the craft happening in real time.

We kept Islander UK updated at every milestone throughout fabrication. Once complete, the doors were delivered ready for fitting, finished with elegant vinyl glass manifestations. Lettering reading "The Workshop," "Personalised Accessories" and "Memorable Experiences" defines the zone's identity, turning a functional partition into a branded storytelling piece.

Delivered on schedule, the finished screen now stands as an inviting threshold, drawing Covent Garden shoppers in to see the craft and start creating something of their own.
