This project in Orpington, Kent began when the homeowner discovered our work online and approached several suppliers to compare options. Ultimately, he chose our system for one key reason: our doors are fully welded, offering a level of strength refinement, and durability that stood out from the alternatives.

The homeowner was particularly design-conscious and spent time exploring examples on our Design Page, where he selected a bar layout that resonated with the look he wanted to achieve. The chosen configuration features two narrowly spaced horizontal bars through the centre of each door and the fixed screen, paired with one offset vertical bar per door, mirrored by an additional vertical bar in the fixed screen. This creates a distinctive, architectural rhythm across the installation, subtle yet visually striking.

The first piece includes a single hinged door with a fixed side screen, positioned between the hallway and lounge. The addition of the fixed panel was a deliberate choice to maintain openness, allowing the rooms to feel more connected while ensuring light flows freely across the ground floor. To keep the focus on the bar design, the client opted for our minimal welded Trim handle, a clean and understated choice that enhances the doors’ refined aesthetic without distraction.

Further down the hallway, a second single hinged door leads into the formal dining room, continuing the same bar layout and design language to maintain consistency and visual flow throughout.

To ensure the new steel-framed doors integrated perfectly with the existing interiors, both were finished in RAL 9005 black, matching the home’s timber doors. The apertures also feature a thick white architrave, identical to the timber door frames, creating a beautifully coordinated contrast. This combination of black steel doors framed in crisp white demonstrates just how successfully steel glazing can complement traditional joinery and elevate a home’s architectural detailing.

This project is a strong example of how tailored design, thoughtful detailing and material harmony can transform circulation spaces into elegant, connected features of a modern home.
