This project began with an initial enquiry for both pocket doors and fire doors, with the brief evolving as the wider renovation progressed. As the design developed, the pocket doors were omitted, allowing focus to shift towards creating a striking fire-rated double door set that would become a key feature within the home.

The client had been inspired by one of our previous Essex installations and wanted to recreate a similarly bold, architectural aesthetic within his own property. With this in mind, the final design was carefully tailored to suit the proportions and style of the renovation, balancing performance requirements with strong visual impact.

Positioned between the hallway and the open-plan living space, the doors were designed to provide certified fire protection without compromising the openness of the layout. Clear fire-rated glass was selected to maintain uninterrupted sightlines and allow natural light to flow between spaces, preserving the bright and expansive feel of the home.

The chosen design features a contemporary arrangement of two horizontal bars with a box detail spanning across both doors. This created a clean geometric composition that feels considered, balanced and highly architectural. Finished in RAL 9005 Jet Black, the frame provides a confident contrast against the lighter interior palette, ensuring the doors command attention as a true statement piece.

The completed installation delivers exactly what the project required, compliance, functionality and standout design in equal measure. Rather than feeling purely practical, the fire-rated doors elevate the wider interior scheme, adding structure, definition and a premium finish to the heart of the home.

The result is a striking focal point that complements the modern open-plan renovation beautifully, proving that fire-rated glazing can be every bit as refined and design-led as a standard internal door set.
